Nail in your tire

A nail in your tire. Something you normally can’t fix yourself and leaves you in momentary lurch for between 20 minutes and 3 hours. (Depending on what kind of assistance service you have or when this nail decided to strike)

The tire is running flat and you need a repair. You can’t drive on it, so now, all your days plans take a backseat. This is a frustrating time. Chances are when the alarm went off you didn’t think..”How will I deal with the flat tire today?!”

This scenario plays across our daily lives more than we think. It might not be a nail in your tire to change your day, it can be a meeting cancellation, lost wallet, sudden complaint from a high priority client.

All of the above situations are curveballs we didn’t see coming when we greeted the day. How we deal with these moments will define the rest of the day and the way you feel. Find gratitude in the event that just took place. In most cases, it can always be worse. Find the positive and reflect on that. Make plans to overcome the disturbance with minimal day interruption and adjust your day the best you can. It won’t be the “perfect” day we had imagined, but how you overcome and move on will determine how you feel and act for the rest of the day.

Remain focused on gratitude and positives that you are currently experiencing. That will help make that nail in your tire just a small bump in an otherwise successful day in your great life.

Daily reflection

What happens in the morning routine? Is there time set aside for your gratitude. If there currently is not, make some time. It can be anytime from 1 minute to 5 minutes. There are a couple of moments during the morning that can double as reflection time.

Brushing your teeth, during your shower, the drive into work, or anytime you can process your thoughts.

Think of a few things you are grateful for (shoes, waking up, food, having shelter) and say it out loud. (That might be a little tough when you’re brushing your teeth 🙂

The point of the exercise is to get your mind and body in a positive state and send good feels through your system. It’s hard to be crabby or upset when you’re being thankful. Be thankful for a few minutes a day and make it into a habit.

Take a look back after a week and see how far you have come.

Make it the best day!

Weekend

Fall Fridays are pleasant for their temperature and changing colors.

Take advantage of the wonderful evenings by inviting friends over and catching up. Or plan a family night and make some good food.

Start the weekend off right by being with the people who mean the most.

Personal paradise

What is your personal paradise? Where do you go in your mind or as an actual get away to relax and unwind? Why don’t you go there more?

Life is about the journey and the pit stops along the way (good or bad 🙂

What you do now will be the impact 2-4 months from now, maybe sooner. Your present moment mindset (personal paradise) is obviously happening at this moment. Your work goals, relationship progress and friendships are here now because of the work you have put in previously.

Get into your favorite mental paradise every single day. Plan for your physical paradise 3 months out and make it happen. Enjoy the journey, ideally from that hammock in the sun or with the backpack on your shoulders.

Make it the best day!

Enjoy your moment

Sunday afternoon in the sun.  Being with people you care about.

Phone on silent, sitting in pleasant conversation and silence.

That’s being in the moment. You can’t beat it.

Make it the best day!

Calling them out

Or calling them up!

Call one, two or three people you care are about today. You can say anything you want! A simple hello, love you, thinking of you…I mean come on, there are a lot of words to choose from!

We live in a fast paced society where little gestures are overlooked. However, by those who choose to make the little things a part of their daily routine, they receive that goodness right back.

We have said it before, gratitude is an integral part to living a life full of abundance. Go ahead and give someone a call today, make their day.

Make it the best day!

Unplug weekend

The weekend is here and it’s that time again to…unplug!

Pick a day or two this weekend to set the phone down, leave it inside. Turn the iPad off and get outside into nature. The weather is quickly becoming prime for exploring and getting good exercise.

If you decide to take the weekend off from electronics then read both of this weekend’s blog posts on Monday! The body always needs a reset and same goes for the mind.

Take in the sights and sounds of nature this weekend.

Unplug from your devices, connect to nature.

Make it the best day!

What will happen today?

Everything!!

Don’t take a second for granted.

Be present and live in the moment. Anything can happen good or bad. Embrace the life you are currently living and where you are at this exact moment.

The possibilities are endless when we do not put limits on what we can achieve.

Make it the best day!
