Actions

Take action before you speak. Words are rendered useless if there is no follow-up in actual action.

Talk enough about what you are doing or making happen with no actual results and that will ultimately reflect poorly on your reputation. You want your friends and family to trust you and take you at your word. Knowing that if you do say something, it gets backed up.

Start practicing doing instead of saying. See how many more things you get accomplished. Then also look and see how many people actually recognized what you did! Even when you didn’t talk it up to begin with.

Dark mornings, great workouts

Before daylight savings time sets in, the sun is rising at what seems like 10am. Have no fear, it is actually only 7:12am if you’re in Colorado!

With the dark and cool mornings it’s hard to shake yourself out of a peaceful slumber. However, if you are consistent with a bed time and rise and shine time the process gets much easier.

Once you have that nailed down, it’s time to get moving. There is no better way to get the blood pumping and wake you up then some exercise. Get out for a walk, head to the gym,  do some in-house Yoga. Whatever your exercise of choice is…DO IT!!

Burn the extra calories and give your body the energy boost it needs to combat the dark fall mornings.

Make it happen

Pick up your goal list, start crossing your tasks off and make it happen.

Today is the future, it was created with your past actions.

Need, want, like

That is an amazing t-shirt, I want that! Holy cow that ice cream was just the best, I need that! Oh I like that picture of the ocean. It makes me smile.

Do we need that object, new car or candy bar? Or do we just want something in that moment? If we give it one day, will that feeling pass?

Analyze where you are and what you are thinking of buying. Most of the time it can wait. Think it through. This is very important for snacks that can derail your hard work of eating healthy. Taking a step back from that snickers and look for a better option. Or maybe this time it is just water to fill that ‘bored hunger.’

Need, want, like. Look at it, assess the situation, make a decision. More often than not, it’s a want and you will get by just fine without it.

Path of best resistance

Our bodies will take the path of least resistance to complete a movement. We will take that same path to achieve a goal. However, we will encounter resistance along many of the roads we travel. Some of this is good and some deter us from our end goal or delay the process.

How can we search out the path that gives us the best resistance? The path that allows for constructive criticism to improve our product or service. The path where resistance shapes us for the better and challenges our current thought process.

If you surround yourself with critical thinkers and friends & colleagues who won’t just say yes, but say, why? You create a path with resistance, but now you are learning, growing and creating a product or service that will deliver at a higher level because of critical input.

Personal paradise

What is your personal paradise? Where do you go in your mind or as an actual get away to relax and unwind? Why don’t you go there more?

Life is about the journey and the pit stops along the way (good or bad 🙂

What you do now will be the impact 2-4 months from now, maybe sooner. Your present moment mindset (personal paradise) is obviously happening at this moment. Your work goals, relationship progress and friendships are here now because of the work you have put in previously.

Get into your favorite mental paradise every single day. Plan for your physical paradise 3 months out and make it happen. Enjoy the journey, ideally from that hammock in the sun or with the backpack on your shoulders.

Infused water

Homemade infused water is better for you then store-bought. Here is a simple drink that tastes good and is east to make!

Pineapple, Mint, Ginger Water:

  • Place 4 cups thinly sliced pineapple (about 1 1/4 pounds), 5 sprigs mint (lightly crushed) and 8 round slices ginger (smashed) in a pitcher.
  • For still infused water, add 2 quarts of water. For sparkling water, add 1 quart of seltzer during prep and a second quart just before serving.
  • Refrigerate 2 to 4 hours to allow the ingredients to infuse. Stir well and strain, discarding the solids.
  • For serving, add fresh pineapple, mint and ginger for garnish and plenty of ice. The infused water will keep refrigerated for up to 2 days.

One step a day

Taking one step a day towards better health is all that it takes. One step in the right direction. This can be eating a healthier meal, going for a walk, swapping water for soda.

Get a head start on the inevitable New Year’s resolution to be healthier. Taking a leap is harder than a step. Start now.

Take a walk instead of watching three straight episodes of a TV show tonight. Sub a sparking water for a soda. Eat a piece of fruit for a snack instead of a sugar laden “granola” bar.

The steps are small. The steps are easy. One at a time, to a healthier life.

Transactional or relationship

Transactional client or relationship client, which one does your business cater to? Which one does your business want?!

Are you looking to be the lowest price and beat the 50 other widgets based on cost alone? Or are you building a relationship, crafting a story and pricing with integrity?

Business transactions are largely relationship based. Build a relationship with trust and watch how business flows. When trust is built, the price pain-point seems to magically go away. However, it’s not magic. The client knows what they want, has trust in you to deliver and you do. Plus, you deliver with follow-up. It’s not magic, it’s being true to your brand.

Once you deliver and create your client relationships you can charge what you are worth. The hardest parts of business is the pricing model, when it involves time, travel and personal service. You need to get paid appropriately for your service, but don’t want the price to be “too high”.

Once you connect with your client on a personal level and build the relationship, you make what you’re worth. The best part is, everyone is happy.

Great service, dependable people and desired results. That is the ‘magic’ of a relationship client.
