Morning Commute

Stressed out about the commute to work tomorrow? Unless you are walking or riding your bike, chances are there will be a car drive, bus or train ride involved. How can you turn the stress of a morning commute into a pleasant trip?

Select music that is calming and has those good vibes. : )

Try to avoid music that has an over aggressive tone and speed. It will amplify the stress of traffic. Find some surfing tunes, classic samba or flamenco. Pleasant feels will follow, guaranteed.

If you don’t have to drive to work, pick up a good book or the paper to read. Expand your knowledge or find and enjoyable book that will take your mind on fun journey.

There are many things that can derail a good morning. Take it into your hands to make your day the best it can be from the start.

Remember your actions determine your outcomes. Be positive and enjoy your Monday!

Excuse me

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Lost? Looking for a file that you can’t find? Don’t know how to pronounce a word in a foreign language?

Asking for help doesn’t mean you’re stupid. It means you want to make sure you get it right. There is no shame is asking questions. Society makes us feel like we should know everything. We obviously don’t, so ask!

Personally or professionally, be the thoughtful question master.

Walk about

Wanting to get a good exercise day in but have no equipment? Find the hills and steps in your current city or town. If your work or the nearest attraction is only 1 mile away, walk.

Explore the city, take in the sights and sounds. Connect with where you are.

You will notice things that passed right by when you drove or took the bus. Engage in your surroundings. This is especially important when traveling and exploring new cities. Intricate doorways and windows can be missed by taking the tram everywhere. Not only will you see more sights, but the exercise you get will feel wonderful!

Inbox

How many of those pesky emails are sitting in your inbox? The intention of leaving them there so it reminds you to do it later.

Here is a challenge for the week. Clean up your inbox to have three to five emails TOTAL! (I don’t like typing in all caps, but it seemed appropriate there)

Instead of having an inbox full of emails you might get to. Settle in, read and respond. Then move them to the appropriate folder. Organization starts with discipline.

What’s in your backpack?

Notebook, phone, wallet, gym clothes, transit card, headphones….dreams?

Where do you want to explore? What drives your passion for working? Do you want to vacation, travel, sit in the back yard?

Each day that passes is a gentle reminder that our time is precious. Your backpack should be full of what you aspire to do.

Setting your intention and making your dreams become realities. Try not to make your pack too heavy. Take in your experiences, not all on your phone.

Pack your bag and live your dreams.

Breathe, look, love, repeat.

Make it the best day!

Get by

What will you do today?

Enough to make it or will you make a difference?

Each morning we have a choice to do the bare minimum or exceed in just one portion of our day.

Go the extra step for someone else or yourself. Make a positive change.  Every little bit helps and makes a world of difference.

Getting back in the swing

It was the last major 3 day weekend of the summer, I hope you’re not reading this wearing white pants….

After a nice long weekend, it’s hard to get back to the desk and get moving on the work pile. Start small and don’t try to mill around on social media for too long. Getting your workout on early will help and will set your mind right.

Have comfort in the fact this is only a 4 day work week, try not to be bummed that you are back at work. Set your mind on your tasks at hand and see how quickly it will be Friday.

Time moves at the same pace, no matter what day it is. 🙂

Follow through

Promised to take the garbage out?

Said you were going to make your bed?

Told everyone you were going to workout this afternoon after work?

Meet your friends for the softball game?

Whatever the promise or obligation is, bring follow through. Show up on time, complete the task. Showing up is half the battle in our day-to-day tasks. Be the one person people can count on.

It will not go unnoticed. You know when your friend or co-worker shows up late, it’s frustrating. When they are early, it’s a pleasant surprise.

Have the follow through so your circle can count on you. Accountability transfers across many aspects of personal and business life.

It also makes a difference.

Organization and leadership

Building your business requires a grasp on organization and delegation. No matter how large or small your company may be. As you begin to scale, your structure and hierarchy must also change and grow with you.

It is imperative to keep all team members on the same page as everyone takes on more tasks or new employees are hired.  As a move to scale begins or progresses, tasks and duties can fall through the cracks. This is where organization is key to success.

Each step up requires monitoring and leadership. The employees should know their responsibilities and what is expected of them. This is not to say micro managing is needed. Instead accountability and discipline are integral in this equation.

As a leader, you organize your team to set the business up for success. Each employee is well versed in the product or service and holds themselves to a high standard of success.

By allocating the correct resources and keeping the employees working toward a unified goal, the business will continue to scale and be successful.

As an owner, take responsibility. Lead by example everyday. Organize a winning team and attitude. A profitable product or service will result, all with a little side of customer satisfaction : )
