What’s on your shopping list?

There are a lot of temptations in the grocery store aisles. The sugary cereals, processed food and high sugar drinks.

Before going to the store it is best to make a list of things you need. This will help you avoid impulse buys (that usually fall on the not so healthy side.)

Be disciplined as you go through the aisle and keep your main nutrition goals in mind. If your main goal is to eat fresh and healthy as possible, stay to the outside of the store. The perimeter has all of the fresh fruits, veggies, and meats. In the aisles is where the traps lurk with processed foods.

The grocery store can be a place where your meal plan falters or really shines. Make it shine by being prepared, staying to the outside and using discipline.

Routine

The school season has started up again and that means parents can get back in a routine.  Getting the kids off to the bus on time, picking them up after school everyday.

With routine comes freedom. There is a structure to the day Monday through Friday.

Use this routine and structure to your advantage. Plan you workouts around it and meal prep. If there has been a procrastination in hitting your workout goals of 3 days a week, now is the time to start.

Mark the days down on your calendar and make it happen. The routine is back in full swing, make it work for you!

Momentum

It can feel as if you have all or none. Moving with momentum is the easiest part of moving. Why? Because you have assistance, the drive! When you don’t have momentum, everything can feel 100% harder.

How do we regain it? Did we ever lose it?

Focus on your task, little steps end up completing the end goal.

Those little steps build momentum and ultimately help in achieving that end goal.

Create your momentum and fuel it with small steps everyday to achieve your desired result!

Be Present

It seems everyday recently I wake and say “I can’t believe it’s August already!”

Then I realize all my thoughts are what I am going to do in future, even when I am doing something I truly enjoy.

Live in the moment. It will move past regardless. Savor it.

The ultimate enjoyment will be the ability to look back and know how fully engaged you were in the present.

Moderation

When you’re traveling and eating at restaurants how easy is it to eat healthy?

There are temptations on every page of that menu. We all know it. It can be breakfast, lunch or dinner. Sausage gravy (yes please!) Onion rings (yum) Pasta with loads of cheese and meat (What do you mean I can only have one serving?!)

Maintaining healthy eating habits is about moderation. You can eat a scoop of ice cream, some pizza, a biscuit with gravy or whatever else strikes your fancy. The key is to not do it all the time. Enjoy your food and the experience. Just like anything else in life, do it in moderation.

You will feel better physically and mentally after the fact. Moderation can help you stay on track to achieving your goals in all aspects of your life. Just as being on Facebook or Twitter for a prolonged period of time can be a detriment to your productivity. Moderation can be applied to more aspects than food.

Stay on the path to success. Stay disciplined.

What’s your time worth?

Have many times have you sat down and said, “Well that was a waste of my time”.

Calculate how much your time is worth. Does what you’re doing make you happy? Is what you are doing furthering an endeavor you are passionate about?

Time is finite. It is a limited asset. Delve into what makes you happy and is worth you time.

Once you have figured that out, do it! If certain activities or people need to be phased out….well so be it.

Your life and your time. Make it count.

Embrace the day

Yesterday might have not gone how you wanted it to.

Tomorrow can go either way, we don’t know.

However, we can create today and live in the moment.

Failures and successes from the past are just that. Failures and successes in the past. They do not have a direct correlation on how you will become successful today. Unless you plan to dwell on the failures and let them shape your view of the present.

Create the day you want. Live it with gratitude. Do not let yesterday dictate today.

Make it the best day!

Multi-level touch points

In business or personal relationships there are many opportunities for touch points. They can range from personal (stopping in and saying hello) to impersonal (sending an email).

As we move through our life we consider the best way to reach out to others. They can hit any point of the personal or not so personal meter. Always remember there is more than one option and the touch point you use will be determined by your desired outcome.

Email has its time and place as does the stop in. However, we all know that there is a time trade-off with each of these modalities.

The next time you need to make a touch point with a client or personal relationship consider your desired result. Do you wan to be another email in the flurry of hundreds and be easily forgettable? Or would you rather make an impact and be the client or friend that goes the extra mile?

All touch points have their time and place. Be mindful of when and how you select yours. Craft it to your situation and the desired reaction and outcome you would like to achieve.

Finding your zen and exploring your zone

What makes you happy and gives you the feeling of being at ease?

Today for me it was on the spin bike with the right music. I was flooded with feelings that made my Monday morning more enjoyable than I could have thought. At minute two my thoughts gravitated towards the following.

  • Being present
  • Setting an intention
  • Positive affirmations
  • Gratitude
  • Motivation
  • Clearing my head

Your happy place and space can be anywhere doing anything. Try to find it more than once a week. You will feel recharged and do things you didn’t think possible.

Make it the best day!

Treading water or swimming to success?

Going through this week, month or year are we treading water or are we making progress?

If we are treading water, why are we doing so?

  • Not in the game mentally?
  • Lack of personal effort?
  • Distractions?
  • Lack of motivation?
  • Not enough rest?

There are a multitude of reasons why we tread water in regards to work or personal life. Dig deep to find the ultimate reason this is happening.

How can we turn treading water into a full on swim in the direction of success?

Does it involve waking up earlier to accomplish more tasks? Turning off the TV to read or exercise? Or is it changing your mindset to focus on your ultimate desires?

If you feel like you are currently just treading water, look for an answer. Be honest with yourself about the things you feel and do. What activity is just turning the wheel everyday?

Write it down. Pledge to change it. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Make it the best day!
